Migratory patterns changes and very different this year 2018. Many whale sharks show up Ticao pass which is Diving site (40 km from Donsol bay) instead Donsol bay on March, it is very unusual. We doubt there's so much rain in Donsol from December to February due to La nina. Too much discharge of fesh water from the rivers may change the temperature in the water that may effect the food source in the area. Also, too much freshwater from the river can lower the salinity of the waters there in Donsol. Other one,  Mayon Volcano eruption can have an effect to aquatic life around the region. it can increase the acidity of the water, increase turbidity change in temperature and can change food supply in the area. These factors can make some aquatic life die of move away in the area. According to WWF, Right now here is an ongoing research conducted by Master students from University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute, They are doing studies on Zooplankton and phytoplankton in Donsol water, quality of water as well.
